17-year-old faces death over killing of student
JOHOR BARU: A teenager has been charged in the Juvenile Court here with murdering an 18-year-old student at her home in Taman Kempas.
The 17-year-old minor is alleged to have murdered C. Sivaranjini at her house along Jalan Dataran 4/5 here at around 9.30am on Jan 11.
He faces the death penalty upon conviction.
No plea was recorded and magistrate Mohd Isa Mohamed set March 15 for mention pending chemical and forensic reports.
The accused was not represented.
It was previously reported that Sivaranjini was found dead in the prayer room of her house.
Meanwhile, two security guards were sentenced to three years imprisonment in the Sessions Court for stealing components of a railway track.
Anizan Zainal, 31, and Rosman Idros, 27, pleaded guilty to stealing three nail tracks, four railway clips, and four bolts and nuts near Taman Pasir Puteh in Pasir Gudang at around 11am on Jan 13.
Judge Madihah Hairullah ordered the jail term to begin from the date of arrest.
